Individually these books give good information but in this package its great to have the information collectively in one place. As this was on sale for free for a promotional time I purchased it and am certainly glad I did. Crickmore is the author both of the first detailed book to be published on the SR-71 Blackbird, and of the standard reference work on the subject - the much-acclaimed Lockheed SR-71: The Secret Missions Exposed. He is an honorary member of several A-12 and SR-71 veterans' associations. Paul is also the author of the first detailed book about the F-117, written in partnership with his wife Alison and published in 1999. The author lives in Woodbridge, UK.

This title completes the analysis of the extraordinary Mach 3 Lockheed planes by the “Air Vanguard” series.
Paul Crickmore details in a clear and authoritative way all the peculiarities of the SR-71 and traces its history since the days of the genesis as a bomber,then evolved in the strategic recce planes that still owns speed and altitude records after more than 40 years.
A very nice book that illustrates the intense and successful career of a plane that stands high in aviation history.

A classic. Perfect for fans of DuMaurier

Jamaica Inn by the English writer Daphne du Maurier is a classic. The story begins with 20 year-old Mary Yellan making her way to Jamaica Inn in a horse drawn coach, the darkness of the moors and the beating rain making her very anxious.

Mary lived on a farm in Helford but had to leave after her mother died. As she was dying she asked Mary to go live with her Aunt Patience at Jamaica Inn. The journey to her aunt is anything but comforting.

Upon arrival Mary finds her aunt a different person fro the sparkling, witty laughing woman she remembered. Aunt Patience seems aged 50 years and mutters constantly. She is clearly frightened of something and Mary comes to realize very quickly what, or shall I say who, is the reason. Mary’s Uncle Joss is a wicked man and he has illegal business affairs right there at the inn.

The plot follows a group of murderous wreckers, Joss seemingly one who is in charge. They run ships aground using lanterns on the shore and kill the sailors then steal the cargo. Jamaica Inn is never open to the public yet every few weeks men come in the dark of the night, silently unloading carts of merchandise they have stolen from the wrecked ships.

Mary foolishly becomes attracted to Joss’s younger brother, Jem. She realizes Jem does not have anything to do with her uncle’s murderous business although he is a horse thief.

One day Mary decides to track her uncle across the moors so she can report the lot of them to the law. But it gets dark earlier than she thought it would and Mary is stranded, cold and wet and alone in the dark. Miraculously a horse drawn buggy comes along and she is rescued. Francis Davey, an albino vicar who lives in the next village, picks Mary up and takes her to his home. She tells the vicar the improbable tale of her uncle’s business expecting him to help her. He instead points out some weak points in her story and suggests she is letting her imagination get away from her.

There is much more but if you haven’t read Du Maurier’s classic, I don’t want to give away the rest of the story. Soon I would like to read her other popular book, Rebecca.

What would you like to eat if you were arriving on a damp, cold wintery evening to a near deserted inn on the moors? I would want a hot brisket dinner and loads of tea! That's what I was inspired to prepare after reading this book. (Photos are on my website)

Too long winded

After reading Daphne DuMaurier's later novels and short stories, I found Jamaica Inn a bit too long-winded. There are so many verbose descriptions of the landscape, the sea, the moors, the weather... and although DuMaurier was very good at creating mood, I think these descriptions may have taken away from the excellent characters and plot. It was one of her earlier works, though, so perhaps Ms. DuMaurier may have agreed with me on this. :)

An excellent gothic suspense from one of the genre's best

With the passing of her mother, young Mary Yellan goes to live with her aunt and uncle at their establishment, the Jamaica Inn, only to find out it’s a hotbed of smuggling… and far worse. Her uncle is one of the area's wreckers -- dangerous men who lure ships to crash along the shore, killing the crew/passengers and looting whatever washes up on shore.

Du Maurier was the master of the 20th-Century gothic, and imbues this novel with a thick sinister atmosphere and feeling of impending dread. It reads like an authentic Victorian-era gothic, but is also more well-written than most old gothics. Mary is a capable protagonist, strong and independent despite her fears, and her relationship with two locals proves to be a major secondary plot-point. All in all, an impressive work of suspense some eighty years after du Maurier penned it, and well worth reading.

Fun safari fiction

A fun easy read. Having followed James Hendry on many live safaris thanks to Wild Earth, I am very familiar with his humor so I was sure I would enjoy his novel. I was right. Having been on safari a couple years ago, I really hope he was exaggerating about the American tourists. Although, he was mostly equal opportunity with his hilarious descriptions of all nationalities.

Great read! Should be a mini series on PBS.

Hilarious story about two young brothers becoming civilized by the wild. Not recommended for bedtime because you'll want to find out what Angus and Hugh have done next. His style is reminiscent of Somerset Maugham's entertainments. I hope James continues this saga. Highly recommended.

YOU GOTTA READ THIS. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME AND HILLARIOUS

This has got to be one of the best books I have ever read. Just thinking of what occurs in this story makes me want to read it all over again. It is hilarious. Buy this and you are going to shed many tears of laughter. This gives the reader a very good idea of what happens in the upmarket game lodges in South Africa and how much fun these guys have. Without revealing too much of what happens, go buy this book. I guarantee you will love it. It is worth every cent and more. I am currently reading the follow up to this (Back to the Bush) and am thoroughly enjoying it.

About the Author
Ansel Woldt (Ed.D., Counseling Psychology, University of North Dakota, 1968) is Professor Emeritus of Counseling at Kent State University. Dr. Woldt has extensive experience in Gestalt teaching, research, editorial work, international organizational activity, and clinical practice dating back to the 1960s. He serves as Associate Editor for the Gestalt Review and was a primary founder of the Association for the Advancement of Gestalt Therapy, where he continues to hold the office of Archivist and Continuing Education Officer. He has directed over 100 doctoral dissertations, 45 relating to Gestalt therapy, and has taught an advanced graduate Gestalt Therapy course at Kent State for over 30 years. He founded and is primary collector for the Gestalt Therapy Archives at Kent State. As Continuing Education Associate for the Gestalt International Study Center at Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and as a presenter at major conferences, Dr. Woldt has ongoing contact and involvement with Gestalt therapists throughout the world.

Sarah M. Toman (Ph.D., Counseling Psychology, Kent State University, 1995) is a graduate of the three-year post-doctoral Gestalt Training Program at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland. She serves as Secretary for the Association for the Advancement of Gestalt Therapy. She has been teaching an advanced graduate Gestalt Therapy course at Cleveland State University, where she is an Associate Professor of Counseling, Administration, Supervision and Adult Learning. Dr. Toman serves as Research Chair for the National Career Development Association, has published articles and book chapters, and has offered over 30 presentations at State, National, and International conferences. A Biased/Un-biased Recommendation

First, full disclosure admits that I am a contributing author to this book. However, I'm not writing to advocate my chapter; rather, I'm writing because I am feeling fortunate and grateful to be among the other authors in this great book. That is true, and it is also true that the content and approach to this book provides a comprehensive treatment of Gestalt therapy that serves our discipline well and provides a solid reference for trainees. Many of these authors are people with whom I have been meeting, conferencing, discussing, arguing, and from whom I have been learning ever since I started my journey in formal Gestalt training. I would rank this volume in the top five for Gestalt therapy literature worldwide.

Important Contribution to Gestalt Literature

I am very impressed with this important and comprehensive contribution to the Gestalt Therapy literature. We have assigned it for our post-graduate training institute. The students find it clear and informative. I highly recommend it for both beginning and advanced students of Gestalt Therapy.

I am only reading this text for a course. The language is not concrete, and I am having a hard time applying the information to counseling applications.
